Restaurants Near Broad Street, Birmingham
Broad Street in Birmingham does the big nights. We sit two minutes behind it on the Brindleyplace canalside, close enough to join the fun, far enough to hear your own conversation.
Places to eat near Broad Street, Birmingham
Broad Street is lined with bars and chains; the quieter places to eat are a short cut-through away. Head through Brindleyplace square towards the canal and you reach Lulu Wild, a Chinese restaurant and cocktail bar on The Waters Edge. It is the same two-minute walk whether you are coming from the top of the strip or the tram stop, and it changes the evening: somewhere to sit down, dine on modern Chinese cuisine and have a drink in peace, then back out if you fancy it. It works for a quick bite before a night out, a date or a bigger occasion with friends.
Start the night properly
A night on Broad Street goes better on a base of XO prawn dumplings and crispy duck than on a meal deal. The kitchen opens at midday, and the menu is built for sharing: steamed and pan-fried dim sum, sharers for the table, firecracker squid, sesame prawn toast, slow-cooked aromatic crispy duck and wok dishes with real heat. Vegetarian and vegan dishes run through the menu, and there are desserts like mango pudding if you want to finish here.
Lunch off Broad Street
Working nearby? The weekday lunch menu is £22.50 a head, Monday to Friday from 12pm to 4pm: a starter such as crispy chilli wings or a BBQ belly pork bao, then a main like Sanpei chicken, Mongolian lamb or chilli paneer with rice or noodles. It fits an hour out of the office without feeling rushed.
Bottomless brunch a street away
If your Broad Street weekend starts in the afternoon, bottomless brunch runs Friday to Sunday from 12pm to 4pm: two courses of Chinese plates and 90 minutes of unlimited Prosecco, Pornstar Martinis, Lychee Martinis and mocktails for £45 a head.
Cocktails without the crush
Our bar mixes proper cocktails, listed on their own menu and made without the queue-three-deep chaos: Espresso Martinis, Old Fashioneds and house drinks like Lucky Dragon and Fortune Cookie. On Fridays and Saturdays we pour until 2am, so it is somewhere to start the night or somewhere to finish it.
